Winter Wonderland: 10 Popular Christmas Tunes

City sidewalks, busy sidewalks, dressed in holiday style. In the air there's a feeling of Christmas. I first heard those words as a young boy in Oklahoma. They stir images of the season I have come to know. Garlands of green sport ornaments of gold bound by red velvet ribbons draping elaborate windows in Rockefeller Center. A towering tree dominates the view of Fifth Avenue opposite Saks. Skaters glide over the ice only a few steps away from that famous street. Santa rings his bell on every corner. Silver Bells indeed.

The seasonal pictures painted by the melodies and lyrics of the songs in this collection portray the soul of the season. Ten of my happiest Christmas seasons have been spent entertaining the holiday crowds at The Waldorf Astoria in New York City. Guests from all over the world know the words.

This collection is divided in two parts. Tunes one through five are playable as a single medley. Modulation interludes connect the pieces for continuous performance. Tunes six through ten are organized in the same fashion. If you have the time and stamina, all ten work equally well for a set of approximately thirty minutes. And, of course, any single piece may be played as a solo with a complete cadence at the double bar.

The lyrics are provided at the back of the book

Prepare yourself for the season.

Delight both young and old.

These tunes are timeless. And above all

Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas!
